NaturopathyNaturopathyWhat is Naturopathy?Naturopathy (also known as naturopathic medicine or natural medicine) is a medical system using herbal medicines, nutrition, homoeopathy and lifestyle advice to bring the body back into health. It focuses on, and encourages the body’s innate ability to heal and maintain itself. How does a naturopath work?A naturopath will blend medicinal herbs in liquid form for the individual, identify mineral and vitamin deficiencies, address organ dysfunction and provide the patient with dietary recommendations that suit the individual. They also have a broad understanding of many other therapies and will refer patients out to them if they may be beneficial to the patient (a little like a G.P will refer someone with a back strain to a physiotherapist). What can I expect when I come to see a naturopath at The Herbal Health Centre? If you would like to see a naturopath at The Herbal Health Centre then please give us a call and we can make a booking for you You will receive a comprehensive health form to fill out either by email or on arrival (whichever is more convenient for you). This will give us some insight into what may be happening for you before we see you. This leaves the hour with the naturopath open for a deeper exploration of what has been happening with your health. During the consultation the naturopath will ask you to describe in detail what has been happening for you and will interject with questions to establish what is happening for you. They will check any medical tests and medications you are already taking and may recommend further testing if needed. Depending on the person the practitioner may prescribe herbal medicines or neutraceuticals on the day, or may need to wait for test results to tailor your health plan. At The Herbal Health Centre you will receive a comprehensive treatment plan outlining the aims of the treatment, the health issues that need to be addressed, suggested further testing, medication and supplementation suggestion and dietary and lifestyle advice.
