What Lies Beneath - A look at BodyTalk

Ever wondered what the root cause of physical dis-ease is? You may eat well, take regular exercise, get massages and even though you’re taking care of yourself, little changes with the amount of muscular tension or stress you carry? Yes modern life is more stressful than it needs to be. Yes most of us misuse our bodies, don’t get enough down time, nourishment, movement. But surely you should see result of looking after yourself? What holding patterns lie beneath the surface?

The BodyTalk System recognises that physical dis-ease is the final manifestation of stress at energetic, mental or emotional levels. In most cases it is the physical concerns that make you decide to see a practitioner, but to be truly holistic in approach and ensure long term results, it is essential to address the issues at the level they occur. BodyTalk is a wonderful way to identify and address these deeper layers safely and effectively.

BodyTalk is energy medicine, grounded in the wisdom of Chinese Medicine and yoga philosophy. The ancients understood that disturbances in the energy systems of the bodymind eventuated in pathologies at a physical level. While Western medicine understand that stress disrupts the communication in the body, via the nervous system, endocrine system and other major systems in the body, it doesn’t consider the underlying subconscious issues that can trigger a stress response.

BodyTalk uses bio-muscular feedback (muscle checking) to identify and gently release these stressors, which can include out-dated belief systems and habits, emotionally charged memories, inherited thought patterns and hyper-sensitivity. ‘Rebooting’ the innate wisdom of the body improves communication in the body and returns us to full and proper functioning.

Muscular pain, tension and imbalance can be limiting as we adjust our behaviour to deal with these restrictions. Be it shoulder pain, tension headaches or the result of poor posture, managing pain often makes us tired and grumpy, impacting on our relationships and how we interact in the world. Relieving physical stress and discomfort allows more freedom both of body and mind and can have a major impact on how we relate to the people and world around us.

Coming from a holistic standpoint, it’s hard to view any physical imbalance as purely physical. Addressing these imbalances at all levels with BodyTalk will gift you freedom, happiness and good health for the long term.
